Three years of experience developing the Green Deal Data Space in EuroGEO
Understanding how our planet and climate are evolving—and the role human activity plays—is increasingly reliant on access to high-quality environmental, geospatial, and climate-related data. Recognizing this, the European Union has prioritized data as a key enabler of its green transition, leading to the creation of the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS)—one of the flagship Common European Data Spaces.
These Common European Data Spaces are central to the EU’s Digital Strategy. They aim to foster secure, trustworthy environments where data can be accessed, exchanged, and reused—driving innovation, competitiveness, and collaboration across sectors and borders.
Over the past three years, four Horizon Europe projects—AD4GD, FAIRiCUBE, USAGE, and B-Cubed—have worked to bring this vision to life in the environmental, biodiversity, and climate domains, leveraging cutting-edge digital technologies to build interoperable, scalable data solutions.
This event will gather researchers, policymakers, and technical experts to showcase innovative tools for data harmonization, semantic interoperability, metadata and governance recommenations; share key insights and lessons learned from project implementations in the use cases; present a joint Policy Brief to guide the future of the Green Deal Data Space in Europe. The agenda includes live demonstrations, expert panels, and keynote presentations from leaders in the field.
