The AD4GD project held a productive plenary meeting in Poznan, Poland, hosted by PSNC. The event, which ran from September 3rd to 6th, 2024, brought together key partners to review the progress made on the project and plan the next steps as it moves into its final year. The meeting featured collaborative sessions, technical demonstrations, and insightful discussions aimed at advancing the development of data spaces and Green Deal initiatives.
One of the highlights were the hands-on activities carried out during the first two days. These involved improvements to core components of the project such as aspects about data integration or semantic uplift processes for data interoperability. Additionally, the AD4GD team showcased advancements in connectors designed to securely share datasets via contracts and authenticated processes. These innovations will facilitate secure access to environmental data streams through new interfaces and APIs.
The meeting also focused on the continued development of the pilots, which lie at the heart of the AD4GD project. These pilots, covering areas such as biodiversity, urban lake management, and air quality monitoring, are integrating advanced remote sensing data, citizen science contributions, camera traps imagery and AI/ML technologies as demonstrators of some of the proposed components of the future Green Deal Data Space.

The team’s work on enhancing the semantic uplift of environmental data was another core discussion point. This effort is crucial to ensuring that diverse datasets, whether gathered from citizen science, IoT devices, or remote sensing, can be effectively integrated and used across platforms. The group is working to harmonize semantic mappings from various repositories into a single geospatial catalogue.
Our host, PSCN, organised a short guided tour of the Supercomputer facility around which their research institute is configured. AD4GD partners were able to explore the server rooms, the cooling areas and the control room.
Finally, the meeting concluded with a roadmap for the upcoming months, focusing on the final phase of project delivery and end-user engagement. Upcoming efforts will involve scaling the tools, testing interfaces with stakeholders, and finalizing user evaluations to ensure the project’s solutions are practical and impactful.
Stay tuned for further updates on AD4GD as we move closer to the final steps of our project initiative!
