A few months ago, the AD4GD team was proud to make a significant contribution to the GEO Global Forum 2025. This event is a cornerstone for the Earth observation community, and it provided a perfect stage for us to share our progress in developing the Common European Green Deal Data Space.
Our team was busy at the EC booth, engaging with experts and showcasing our work through presentations, a poster session, a round table discussion, and a video highlighting the project’s ambitions.
Advancing the Green Deal Data Space
Our colleague Ivette Serral from CREAF was at the forefront of our activities. She delivered an insightful talk on “Standard-Based Solutions for the Common Green Deal Data Space: The perspective from AD4GD.” Her presentation emphasized how adhering to international standards is crucial for creating the interoperable and robust data ecosystem required by the European Green Deal.
Ivette also participated in a round table discussion titled “Explore the Copernicus Coastal and Arctic Hubs,” further positioning AD4GD within the broader landscape of major European data initiatives.
Our Biodiversity Pilot as a Key Testbed
We also presented a poster titled “Terrestrial Habitat Connectivity as a testbed for the European Green Deal Data Space: from EO to in-situ and IoT data.” This poster detailed how our biodiversity pilot in Catalonia is a practical example of the data space in action. It demonstrates how we can integrate diverse data types, from Earth Observation to in-situ and IoT data, to tackle complex environmental challenges like habitat fragmentation.
Bringing AD4GD to Life
To offer a dynamic overview of our project, we had a video playing at our booth. This video, which you can now view on our YouTube channel, explains the core mission of AD4GD and illustrates the real-world applications of our pilots in water quality, biodiversity, and air quality.
The GEO Global Forum was an inspiring event that reinforced the importance of collaboration. We left with new ideas and stronger connections, more motivated than ever to advance the AD4GD project. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and engaged with our team!
