The ILIAD project is an EU-funded project that aims at stablishin an interoperable, data-intensive, and cost-effective Digital Twin of the Ocean (EDITO). Their work is closely linked to the development of other data infrastructures such as data spaces or data lakes, so we can ask ourselves, how can we support each other? We want to join the conversation since we are undergoing research on useful building blocks for the future Green Deal Data Space. In this ILIAD webinar our project coordinator, Joan Masó, researcher CREAF presented some of the work beeing carried out in AD4GD.
The European Commission is supporting the creation of up to 14 thematic data spaces in the context of the European Strategy for Data. The Green Deal Data Space is a cross-domain data space that should support the European Green Deal policies in priorities like climate change, circular economy, pollution, biodiversity and deforestation. The concept of data space implies not only working with open data, but also contributing to the digital economy where data users and producers need to be authenticated and trusted. How to reconcile these two worlds? What building blocks are we exploring to contribute to the FAIRness of the future GDDS?
