The Group on Earth Observations (GEO) is a community consisting of more than 100 national governments and 100 Participating Organizations that envisions a future where decisions and actions for the benefit of humankind are informed by coordinated, comprehensive and sustained Earth observations. During many years, GEO has been key for advancing in the sharing of open knowledge, enhanced coordination, and developed tools and services that respond to specific global policy challenges. In their annual Ministerial Summit, the GEO family meet in Cape Town (South Africa) during the 6th and 10th November.
The AD4GD project has been present in this international event due to its capital imporance for the global community of Earth Observation and the membership of some of our partners in the group. The presence of AD4GD has been starred by Joan Masó and Ivette Serral, researchers at CREAF. They participated in the following sessions:
- Measuring Essential Variables with high-level satellite products, in-situ sensors and API standards – Joan Masó & Ivette Serral
- From Data to Open Knowledge implementation: efforts to grow the value chain – Joan Masó
- POSTER: GEO Essential Variables (EVs) as a basis for a common semantic framework to better integrate heterogeneous in-situ data sources into the European Green Deal Data Space – Ivette Serral.
This meeting has been a very fruitful opportunity to showcase the progress of the AD4GD project to a multitude of international Earth observation experts as well as to learn from the many projects that have been presented there. We look forward to attending the next edition of these Ministerial Summits.
